Jesus is considered by many to be the greatest moral teacher of all time. His ideas are radical and challenging. It is not that Jesus' ideas were new, they had appreared in other forms before, it is also not that his ideas were complicated, we prefer to complicate them because it lets us off the hook. The point was that he made them in such an uncompromising way and said a great deal about God's forgiveness for those who struggle. Of course, if it is true that Jesus is divine (God) then what he says about life is of utmost importance.
"The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried."
G.K. Chesterton - Chapter 5, What's Wrong With The World, 1910
